Types of Non-Destructive Testing
The tensile-strength test is inherently destructive; during the process of gathering data, the sample is obliterated. While this is permissible when a decent supply of the sample material is available, nondestructive tests are desirable for materials that are expensive or complex to make up or that have been shaped into finished or semifinished items.
